Jocelyn Robert vit à Québec, Canada, et à Oakland, États-Unis. Bien que formé en architecture, au cours des quinze dernières années il a travaillé en art audio, art informatique, performance, installation, vidéo et écriture. En 1993, il a fondé le centre d'artistes Avatar, à Québec. Il a réalisé plusieurs résidences d'artistes, a performé aussi bien en solo qu'avec Diane Landry, Laetitia Sonami et Bruit TTV, a publié neuf cds en solo et a participé à plus d'une vingtaine par d'autres artistes sur l'étiquette Ohm Éditions. Il a reçu plusieurs bourses et a remporté en 2002 le Premier Prix, ex aequo, catégorie Nouvelle Image, de la Transmediale, à Berlin. Il a collaboré avec Émile Morin à la réalisation de plusieurs installations, notamment La Salle des Noeuds, qui a été présentée au Sommet de la Francophonie de Moncton ainsi qu'à la Walter Phillips Gallery, en Alberta. Ses travaux ont été montrés au Canada, aux États-Unis, au Mexique, au Chili et en Europe. Il est intéressé par la banalytique, par l'espace entre les riens, par une certaine épaisseur du temps... Jocelyn Robert lives in Quebec, Canada, and Oakland, United-States. Although trained as an architect, for the last fifteen years he has been working with sound, creating art installations, composing interactive computer pieces, producing performances, videos and writings. In 1993 he founded Avatar, an artist-run centre in Quebec City. He did numerous artist residencies, performed solo, with Diane Landry, Laetitia Sonami and Bruit TTV, published nine solo cds and participated to over 20 from other artists on the Ohm Editions label. He received numerous grants and in 2002 was awarded First Prize, ex aequo, in the New Image category of the Transmediale, in Berlin. He collaborated with Émile Morin on many projects, notably on La Salle des Noeuds, an installation that has been presented at the Sommet de la Francophonie in Moncton and at the Walter Phillips Gallery, in Alberta. His work has been shown in Canada, the United-States, Mexico, Chile and in Europe. He is interested in banalytics, in the space between nothings, in the thickness of time...
